Considered as one of the most demanding treks in northern
Himalayas but as someone has written "long and difficult
the trek, the more is its magic". With increasing
altitude the whole surrounding mesmerises the hikers.
The changing colours of the mountains are unique and the
evening sunlight makes the surroundings even more beautiful.

Itinerary:
Day 1
Delhi (315m) - Chandigarh (365m) - Mandi (750m; 4 hours
by train and then 5 hours by car).
Leave Delhi for Chandigarh by Shatbadi Express at 07.40
in the morning. From there we take you to Mandi one of
the district headquarters of Himachal Pradesh. Mandi is
a beautiful town situated on the banks of river Beas.
Mandi has been blessed with 80 beautiful temples and the
temples of Panchvaktra and Trilokinath are famous for
their architecture. There are many places to explore near
Mandi like Parashar lake, Kamru Nag lake, Barot valley
and Jehjheli valley, yet unexplored places near Mandi.
Overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 2
Mandi (750m) - Barsheni (6 hours drive) - trek to Phulga
(2290m) camp for 4 hrs
Leave Mandi, we reach Manikaran with its sikh temples
and hot water springs early afternoon. Porters wait for
us to take us for the short trek to our forest camp at
Phulga. This is about 4 hours, we go along the right bank
of the Parvati river through a broad forest road. Camp
near the forest rest house for the night.
Day 3
Phulga (2290m) - Khirganga (2960m); 4 - 5 hours (10km)
The trek again is through forests and surrounding mountains
create a beautiful backdrop. We reach Khirganga known
for its hot springs and solitary temple on a rock. Camp
overnight.
Day 4
Khirganga (2960m) - Tunda Bhuj (3285m); 4 - 5 hours (17km)
We cross meadows and forest and as the valley opens up
we reach our camp site at Tunda Bhuj. The surrounding
thickly wooded hills present a soothing sight as we relax
at our camp.
Day 5
Tunda Bhuj (2960m) - Thakar Kuan (3560m); (16 km)
Through birch forests, crossing rocks and dense vegetation,
this section of valley is difficult at places as the trail
frequently skirts rock faces that are difficult for laden
porters. Reach Thakar Kuan above the cliff section. Overnight
in tents
Day 6
Thakar Kuan (3560m) - Pandu bridge (3700m; 7hours; 12km)
Today is a long day as we go through thinning forests
of Birch and Conifer and head out above the tree line.
Bushes and scrub appear and the trail becomes a bit rough
with stones and boulders. We cross two meadows and reach
the natural rock bridges at Pandu bridge crossing this
natural bridge, we head on to our camp site.
Day 7
Pandu bridge (3700m) - Mantalai (4115m); 8 - 9 hours;
(15km)
The trail climbs steadily towards the glacial lake of
Mantalai which is also considered the source of the Parvati
river.
Day 8
Mantalai (4150m) - Base of pass (4573m); 5 - 6 hours;
(12km)
There are numerous streams emerging from this small lake.
The path now consists of mainly moraine as we head towards
our camp site at an altitude of about 4400m.
Day 9
Base pass (4573m) to other side (4000m); 10 - 11 hours;
(13km) finally over to Pin Parvati pass (5319m)
The trail is covered with snow almost year round. The
path is known only to trekkers who have been there before
and our expert guide leads you to a small snowfield to
the top of the pass at 5319m. Boulders emerge from snow
as we cross the pass and descend to the other side. Camp
is held at 4000m.
Day
10
Camp (4000m) - Chinpatta Maidan (3950m); (14 km)
We are now technically in the Pin valley and skirting
the Great Himalayan National Park. We head down to Valley
floor. Camp overnight.
Day 11
Chinpatta Maidan (3950m) - Mud village (3800m); (15km)
We encounter the Pin river, rushing towards meeting the
Spiti river, and wide valley. Camp overnight near village
of Mud.
Day 12
Mud (3800m) - Sagnam (3650m); 8 hours; (16km)
There is a road that now leads to the next village of
Sagnam. Rest for the day or we have the option to visit
Kungari Gompa, back to camp.
Day 13
Sagnam (3650m) - Dhankar - Kaza (45km)
Travel from Sagnam to Dhankar Monastery. This monastery
rests high over the valley and is a stupendous example
of local architecture. We have the option to visit 1008-year-old
Tabo monastery where His Holiness the Dalai Lama performed
Kalchakra in 1996. Check in at a hotel for overnight stay
in Kaza.
Day 14
In Kaza (3600m)
After
freshening up we take you to Kye monastery which is 12km
from Kaza, the largest and most attractive monastery.
Then we take you to Kibber (4250m) 2nd highest permanently
inhabited village of the world which is connected by a
motorable road. After the day's excursion back to Kaza
for overnight stay.
Day 15
Kaza - Kunzum pass (4551m) - Manali (2050m; 225km; 10
- 12 hrs)
Leave very early for Manali via Kunzum pass and Rohtang
pass. Evening check in at a hotel at Manali for dinner
and overnight stay.
Day 16
In Manali (2050m)
After breakfast we take you to the famous Hadimba temple
- a famous woodwork in Pagoda style architecture. Then
we visit Nagar castle and Roerich Art Gallery - dedicated
to the famous Russian painter Nicholas Roerich who married
the Indian cine idol Devika Rani. And then we visit Snow
point. Afterwards we visit Vashist famous for its hot
water springs. After this expedition we go back to hotel
for overnight stay.

Day 17
Manali - Chandigarh (365m; 315km; 8 hrs) - Delhi (315m)

Leave Manali for Chandigarh to catch onward train to Delhi.
